Just called Rep. Yvette Clark about #SOPA and had a 15-minute conversation with an aid about the perils of modern trends in copyright law. He was relatively well informed about the issues but not about SOPA specifically. Even our allies in Congress haven't clued in yet, which means calling your rep might make a real difference. Social networks exist to sell you crap. The icky feeling you get when your friend starts to talk to you about Amway, or when you spot someone passing out business cards at a birthday party, is the entire driving force behind a site like Facebook.

Asking computer nerds to design social software is a little bit like hiring a Mormon bartender.
